Project 3: Banner

Project three is an Internet advertising banner from the year 2080; a post-human, post-geography era. In a post human world the things that make us uniquely human (sleeping, eating and drinking, independent thought) will become arbitrary. My product is a government subsidized sleeping pills. If you take one pill and sleep one ten hour night. There is no need to sleep for the rest of the week. Stay up for 144 hours straight without ever getting tired. A product that would increase work productivity, create more jobs, and cure the state of the economy. I imagine 2080 as a time when no one needs to sleep and the government encourages everyone to work around the clock.

The visual intention of this project was to recall poorly-made web banners. The colors and type were meant to give this advertisement a hokey, wholesome feeling. A pill that is approved and funded by the government needs to seem non-threatening, helpful, and desirable. Almost propaganda. That is what I wanted to get across in my banner. For this project I designed by banner in Photoshop and transferred it to dreamweaver.
