Being asked to name a particular artist, or art movement, or period of art as my favorite makes me anxious because whatever fragmented answer I give, it couldn’t possibly express an accurate portrayal of what I am actually interested in. For example, some of my favorite artists are designers whose explorations of ideas with clothes I find breathtaking.
I 'm especally interested when art forms combine- be it street artists reworking elements of the public sphere, or a fashion designer’s homage to a visual artist, or a visual artist’s use of textiles to reconsider history. In any case, one of the most valuable skills I’ve gained from studying art history is an attention to perceptual details that, in my opinion, makes seeing more fun, engaging, and inspiring.
